SCHOLARS RUN BUSINESS
Pupils of Purton village school in Wiltshire are shareholders in the Poultry and Beekeeping Company, capital £lO. divided into 6d shares. They recently received their first dividend, a halfpenny a share, which is to be reinvested in the company. Miss Jolly, one of the teachers, is managing director, and pupils act as secretary and treasurer. Poultry houses and beehives were built by the children. the eggs and cockerels are sold locally, and the business is carried out on scientific lines.
