BALCLUTHA High Prices for Dairy Cows The Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association conducted a highly successful clearing sale of dairy cows at the Stirling farm of Messrs P. M’Skimming and Son yesterday The cows were largely Friesian crossbreds with a sprinkling of Jerseys. The highest price (£l4 ss) was realised for a fine young Friesian cross cow. Fifty cows averaged £lO, and 70 cows sbld at an average price of £B. The lowest priced cow sold at £4 15s. Heifers sold at from £3 15s to £7. Most of the buying was done by local dairy farmers, who were presumably well aware of the capabilities of the herd School Games Teams ’from the Mosgiel district visited Balclutha yesterday to meet the South Otago High School teams. On the Show Ground South Otago High defeated Mosgiel at Rugby by 22 points to 9 points, while at the High School courts the visiting basketball girls won by 20 goals to 19 goal? from the South Otago juniors in a very even game.
