DOUBLE WEDDING

TWIN SISTERS MARRIED AT BALCLUTHA A double wedding solemnised at Balclutha Presbyterian Church presented the unusual feature of twin sisters being married on the same day. They were Flora Jane and Margaret Janet (Pearl), twin daughters of Mr and Mrs W. James Dippie, of Barnego, Balclutha, and their bridegrooms were respectively Messrs Robert John Aitchison, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Robert Aitchison, sen., of West Taieri, and Allan Campbell, the youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr Lachlan Campbell, of Balclutha, formerly of Pukeawa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. L. Miller, M.A., and Miss Matheson presided at the organ. Friends of the brides had tastefully decorated the church, and the attendance of the public was large. The Presbyterian Church Choir assisted in the service, and Miss Thelma Sinclair sang a solo while the register was being signed. The brides, who entered the church with their father and eldest brother Jack, were dressed alike in frocks of cream marocain, with draped bodices trimmed with buttons. Their full sleeves had long, tight cuffs, also trimmed with buttons, and they wore crystal necklaces, and carried trailing bouquets of camellias, narcissi, and maidenhair fern. Their long tulle veils fell from a halo of orange blossom, and were carried by two little girls (Alison and Myra Dippie, of Paretai), attired in short frocks of apricot georgette, with capes, muffs, and head bands of powder blue silk velvet. Miss Alice Dippie, who attended her sister Pearl, was dressed in a frock of apricot floral georgette, with silver trimmings. I '.:ss Isobel Henry, of Maheno (cousin of the brides) attended Flora, attired in a frock of blue floral georgette, with silver trimmings. The bridesmaids wore head bands of lame and georgette, and carried bouquets to match. Mr Selwyn Aitchison acted as best man for his brother, and Mr Alexander Arthur for Mr Campbell. The ushers were Messrs W. Dippie and M. Aitchison. As the bridal party left the church little Miriam Maxwell presented each bride with a golden horseshoe. At the subsequent reception in the Masonic Hall there were 120 guests, who were received by Mrs Dippie, mother of the brides, dressed in a navy frock trimmed with lace and red crepe de chine, and Mrs Aitchison in a navy ensemble, both carrying bouquets to tone. Mrs Campbell was unavoidably absent through illness. For travelling, Mrs Aitchison wore a frock, coat, and hat of bottle green, and Mrs Campbell a brown frock, with coat and hat to tone. Mr and Mrs Aitchison will reside at West Taieri and Mr and Mrs Campbell at North Balclutha.
