BRITISH PROTECTORATES
POLICY IN SOUTH AFRICA NO CHANGE TO BE MADE (British Official Wireless) • RUGBY, June 17. The position in the South African protectorates was the subject of a reply in the House of Commons by the Under-secretary for the Dominions. Lord Harlington recalled an aide meraoire published after the conversations between the Dominions Secretary and the Prime Minister of the Union last year, which stated that the policy of both the United Kingdom and the Union Governments for the next few years should be directed to bringing about a situation in which, if a transfer were to become a matter of practical polities, it could bo effected with the full acquiescence of the populations concerned. He added: “This still represents the policy of the Government here, and I have nothing to add to that statement.”
