POLICE CELL TRAGEDY
MAN STRANGLES HIMSELF ' (Ter United Press Association) TLMA.RU, June 18. A cell in tlie Timarii Police Station war tlie scene of a tragedy shortly before 7.30 this morning, when a man held on a charge of theft strangled himself with the aid of a towel and bedclothes. The victim was Joseph Owen Green, aged 2(5, unemployed, who yesterday was before (he court charged with stealing £2. bail was allowed, but the accused was unable to find the surety of £SO. and remained in custody. A constable looked into the cell early this morning and saw Green lying apparently asleep. Tie went back later to clean up. and on going in to rouse Green he found him with the blankets over his head and his face buried in his pillow. A towel was found tied round his neck, drawn tight at the back. The deceased is believed to be a native of Gore.
