LAWN TENNIS
ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of the committee of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association was held on Wednesday night, when there were present—Messrs W. R. Sinclair (chairman), R. Phillipps, C. Muir, A. T. Jensen, E. Swete, S. Falconer, E. A. Morrison, T. Grimsdale, S. D. Duthie, E. Ruben and A. M'Millan, It was resolved that Slazenger balls be adopted for the Easter tournament, and the following balls were approved for matches: —Slazenger, Ayers, Dunlop and Spalding. Messrs Sinclair and Grimsdale reported that they had discussed the question of arranging for lawn tennis matches in the secondary schools, and it was resolved to write to the rectors of the Otago Boys’ High School, the King’s High School, John M'Glashan' College, Technical College and Christian Brothers’ High School soliciting their -interest and asking if steps could be taken to arrange competition matches :botwcen the various secondary schools. The question of an improved tram service to Logan Park was discussed, and it was resolved to approach the other bodies interested in an improved service to Logan Park with a view to forming a deputation to wait upon the City Council regarding this matter. Mr Grimsdale reported that a recent visitor from Australia had informed him that some very satisfactory courts bad been laid down in Australia with a mixture of sand and linseed oil at a very modest cost, and it was left to Mr Grimsdale to obtain full particulars for the committee’s information. Mr Falconer, who is shortly visiting Australia, also was requested to obtain information regarding these courts whilst in Australia.
Miss Flora White wrote thanking the committee for arranging for a letter of introduction to the Lawn Tennis Association and wished the association a successful season.
