FRIGHT FROM WOLVES

The severity of the recent winter in North America la Indicated by the fact that in some parts of the United States wolves, spurred on by hunger, ventured close to farms and townships In search of food. From the township of Devil's Lake, North Dakota, comes a story of wolves which pursued a farm boy who was going to town with a load of milk and meat. As he was driving along seven miles from town, said the boy, several wolves, the leader a huge timber beast, emerged from the brush and started in pursuit. The horses, frightened, broke into a run. The youth said that at times the wolves were so close he considered throwing out the supply of meat, but the animals were out-distanced after a two-mile run.
