Arthur Jeffery Durant, aged 49 years, described as a butcher and cook, was charged that on January 4, 1936, he attempted to defraud John Miller, of Dunedin, of the sum of £3 by means of a valueless cheque, and that on November 4, 1935. he similarly attempted to defraud William Fletcher, of Greymouth, of £1 by means of a valueless cheque.—On the application of Chief Detective Young, a remand was granted until June 25.
