JOURNEY UP RIVER
WHALE CAUSES SENSATION FERRY VIOLENTLY ROCKED SYDNEY, June 17. A 40-foot whale swam into the Richmond River and caused a sensation when it collided with the ferry cables at Broadwater while the ferry was midstrdam, causing it to rock violently. Broadwater is 1(5 miles from the river mouth. The whale became stranded on the mud Hats and attempts made to shoot it failed, the bullets making no impression. The whale later got back into deep water and was last seen heading for the sea.
