THE WEATHER
Calm weather with bright sunshine in the morning was experienced yesterday after severe frosts overnight in many parts of the city. The barometer fell sharply in the afternoon.

AUCKLAND, June 17. A fresh to strong south-west wind and changeable weather prevailed to-day, occasional light showers being experienced during the morning and sunshine in the afternoon. The barometer was rising all day and registered 29.85 in at 5 p.m. WELLINGTON, June 17. The weather in the early part of the morning was overcast, but gradually cleared and the afternoon was fine one sunny. A light southerly died away tf a calm by 1.30 p.m. The maximum ten* pej-ature wan 48.1 degrees. P CHRISTCHURCH, June 17. The weather to-day was fine and sunn* after a frost of 6.5 degrees, A light north-east breeze in the morning changed to a fresh cast-north-east in the The barometer fell and registers 29.61 inches.
