BURNS CLUB

A SUCCESSFUL CONCERT The Dunedin Burns Club presented its 536th concert in the Early Settlers’ Hall last night, when there was a large audience to show their appreciation of the ellorts of the club to provide programmes in which the songs and dances, etc., of Scotland largely predominate. Mr N, Stewart presided, and in his introductory remarks apologised for the absence of their president (Mr G. Currie). He was sure they would all join with him in wishing him a speedy recovery from his illness. Mr Stewart said he would like to thank Miss Glass for the flowers she had forwarded, and which, they could see, had given the stage a very pleasing appearance. He realised that they, as mainly a Scottish audience, would be interested to learn that a comedy-drama, with a distinctly Scottish atmosphere, was to bn staged shortly by the Little Theatre Company. This was “ Bunty Pulls the Strings.” Mr Stewart said that he had seen the play some years ago and that he could commend it to them as a bright and amusing entertainIfient. The following programme was submitted. and it had to be supplemented by encore numbers; —Selection, Piper G. Crighton; “The March of the Cameron Men,” Mr W. M.
