LAGOON TRAGEDY
BOTH BODIES RECOVERED AEROPLANE USED IN SEARCH (Peb United Press Association) CARTERTON, June 15. The search for the missing bodies of the youths who were drowned in the Whareroto Lagoon yesterday was continued this morning, and one body, that of Hector Donald, was recovered 30 yards from the shore, clad in a leather jacket and shirt. The theory is that he stripped off and went to the assistance of Murdoch M'Leod. There are 20 feet of water at the spot where the body was recovered. It was located by an aeroplane down by Keith M'Master, and was recovered by drags. The body of Murdoch M'Leod was recovered shortly after noon 20 yards from the other body on a line parallel with the shore. He was fully clothed, except for gumboots, and was wearing a loaded cartridge belt. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned to-night at the inquest on the bodies. The funeral of the victims will take place to-morrow afternoon.
