FOOTBALL RECORDS
TO THE EUlTOtt
Sir,— l was intcimted in reading the report in this morning's Daily Times of the match between University A and Southern, in which it was stated that probably a record for New Zealand was provided in the scoring points by the two teams. The University winning by 20 points to 15 without once crossing the Southern line. I well remember a match played at Lancaster Park in the early eighties between East Christchurch and Merivale senior teams, when the former team won by 20 points to 4, the Bcore being made up exclusively of potted goals. Neither team succeeded in crossing the line. For East Christchurch leddy Francis, well remembered by all old time players, potted three coals and Harold Hassal potted two goals. For Merivale, if my memory serves me aright, Mountfort potted the goal.—l am, etc., Late,East Christchubch.
