CAVERSHAM CLUB The Caversham Harrier Club held its Three-mile Vice-presidents Handicap Kace at St. Kilda on Saturday. Before the race the members were assembled, ana Mr Hollcy made reference to the passing of Mr Alex Mann, a well-known member of the club a few years ago. The club then stood in silence fo'r a few moments ns a mark of respect. A good field ot .iu lined up for the start, and was promptly despatched by the starter .(Mr Holley). The course was along Victoria road to Moreau street, then turning into Lovers lane, which was followed to the cemetery, thence down Tomahawk road, and back to Victoria road, finishing outside the band rotunda. From the start the front markers, led by J. Petherick (3min 20sec), set a fairly solid pace, and at Hancock Park, after covering about threequarters of a mile, Petherick was still in the lead, followed by Rutherford and Stewart (3min lOsec). When the turn was reached at the cemetery Crossan (2min lOsec) had established a lead of 20 ~vards on Stewart, who wag followed bv 11. Emmerson (2min). J. Cummines (2min 20sec). then came a big bunch headed by J. Maddox (lmin. lasecj. At Chisholm Park Crossan was still in the lead, and J. Maddox and W. Darling (55sec) were making a bid/for honours. Just after turning into "Victoria road Maddox and Darling succeeded in heading Crossan, and this order remained unchanged to the fin,i£h, Maddox defeating Darling by 15 yards, with Crossan 20 vards back third. Then came R. Emmerson, J. Stewart and J. Cummings in very close order, with the scratch man Austin in eighth place. Result.—J. Maddox (lmin 15sec) 1. W. Darline (55sec) 2, G. Crossan (2mm lOsec) 3. COMBINED RUN Mornington, University, and Dunedin held a combined run from the George Street School, 53 members turning out under the whistles of Captains Burton (M.), Marsh (U.), and Lorimer (D.). The packs, running together, left the school and turned up Lcith Valley road and then up the bullock track to Maori Hill. The trail led through the plantation to the reservoir, where the packs separated. The racing pack, under Deputy Captain Hall (M.), P»'t in some strenuous work on the Pine Hill side of the Lcith Valley, coming out at Patmos avenue. A hard run home was held over the last one mile and a-half, M'Laren (1).) leading in from Crooke(M.), with Hall (M.) third. The fast pack continued up Leith Valley for some distance and then turned for home, the whi6tle for the run home being given at the bus terminus. It resulted in a win for Munro (M.), with Woods (U.) seco7id, Wilson (M.) third, and Matthews (U.) fourth. The alow pack did some crosscountry work over similar ground to the racing pack, eventually coming out on the Pine Hill road. A run home was he'd from the Woodhaugh bridge, Lamb (.M.J being first.

LEITH . CLUB Lcith held the first sports meeting at Ross Creek reservoir, the weather and track conditions being good. The following ore the results; — One Mile Handicap.—A. Harma (95yde) 1, D. V. Scott (35yds) 2, A. Murray ((30yds) 3. Time, 4min 53 4-sscc. Seventeen competed. 440 Yards Handicap.—S. Avcnt (28yds) 1, A. Murray (scr) 2, G. Armishaw (10yds) 3. Thirteen competed. Hop, Step, and Jump.—G. Markham (lft 6in) 1, G. Armishaw (scr) 2, I. Harding (lft) 3. Eight competed. Broad Jump.—G. Markham (3in) 1, l*. Armishaw (scr) 2, B. Timms (lit) J. Ten competed.
