Widdowson, of Christchurch, who has been appointed medical superintendent of the Wanganui Hospital. was born in Christchnrch. He is a son of Mr H. Y. Widdowson, formerly stipendiary magistrate in Dunedin, and was educated at Christ's College, and later attended the University of Otago. He graduated in 1911, obtaining both the M.B. and Ch.B. degrees. . Dr C. F. Andrews, at present hi Dunedin in the course of a tour under the auspices of the Student Christian Movement, visited the Otago Boys' High School yesterday morning. He later attended a luncheon with the Oxford Group and then visited the Home Science Department of the Otago University and also St. Margaret's College. Last night he lectured at the Allen Hall. This morning Dr Andrews will visit the Girls' High School mid the Medical School. A luncheon has also been arranged by the Council of Christian Congregations and later he will visit Upper Studholmc House and will also attend a University meeting at the Training College. Dr N. L. Edson, formerly of Auckland, who has been approved for the degree of doctor of philosophy in biochemistry at Cambridge University, and is to return from England at the end of the year to an appointment at the University of Otago, was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, where he gained a junior national a senior national scholarship and a junior university entrance scholarship. He graduated M. 8., Ch.B., and B.Med.Sc. at the University of Otago, and won a travelling scholarship, before he became lecturer in the physiological department of the Otago Medical School for four years. He then left f°r to engage in postgraduate research in biochemistry at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, under Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins. Soon after beginning his studies at Cambridge he was awarded a Beit Fellowship, and recently was approved for the degree of doctor of philosophy in bio-chemistry.
