NOTES FROM RICCARTON
(Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. Courtyard jumped two of the schooling hurdles at Riccarton this morning, travelling at a fast pace. High Speed was sent over five steeplechase fences, giving a good display. Royal Limond's injured knee did not look well when he arrived home after In's long journey from Auckland, but a few hours in the paddock made a great improvement. He moved freely enough
this morning, and if lie continues to go on well it is probable that he will be racing at the Dunedin meeting. The Wellington sportsman, Mr D. Levin, who was in hospital recently undergoing an operation, is now convalescent, and lie is having a fortnight's rest at Riccarton with J. S. Shaw, who has his two horses, Palm and Dollar Bill, racing well at present. J. C. Tomkinson will be guided by the weather prospects in his programme for Impossible. She will be an acceptor for the first day of the Dunedin meeting, and probably she will go south if there are of a soft track. Two new horses put in an appearance at Riecarton this morning under the care of their owner, Mr Burbury, who has been working them on his property at Sherwood. Voltic is a six-year-old by Orange Jersey (eon of Nassau), and React is a four-year-old by Rapier. Neither of them has done any racing, but they are to l>e nominated for, the Oamaru meeting. J. S. Shaw has nominated several horses for the Dunedin meeting, but the constitution of his team may depend on the weather. Some of them will require soft ground to provide favourable racing conditions. Sea Fox returned from Auckland looking in good order. He ran a very good race in the Cornwall Handicap on a track that did not suit him, and he is one horse that will benefit from a fall of rain.
