ENGAGEMENT OF TAILOR
CURRENCY BASIS OF SALARY COMPANY'S APPEAL UPHELD (I’eu United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 10. On March 30 J. Ballantyne and Co., Christchurch, applied to the Court ot Appeal for interpretation of a contract made by tiie company’s agent in Loudon by which De Buegcr was engaged by the company ns tailor and cutter for three years at a remuneration of £7OO a year. To-day judgment was given by a majority of the court. Mr Justice Ostler, Mr Justice Blair, and Mr Justice Kennedy allowing live appeal, with costs. Their Honors held that the payment of £7OO per annum in New Zealand currency made by the company was full discharge of the salary agreed to be paid under the contract. In a dissenting judgment Mr Justice Reed considered that the question involved was purely one of construction, and, in big view, should be dismissed. Judgment was entered in accordance with the majority view, with costs.
