YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (Peg United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 10. The Legislative Council’ met at 2.30 p.m. LOCAL BODY BILLS The Napier Harbour Board and the Napier Borough Enabling Bill and the New Plymouth Borough Land Exchange and Empowering Bill were received from the House and referred to the Local Bills Committee, and the Council adjourned and mot again at 4.15 p.m. The committee amended the Napier Bill by deleting the provision giving the corporation the right to lease reclaimed lands. Mr W. H. MTatyre, who was in charge of the Bill, suggested an adjournment of the debate on the second raiding to consult the sponsor of the Bill, and this was agreed to. The New Plymouth Bill was passed. FAIR RENTS BILL The Council agreed to an amendment made by the Hous«i in the Fair Kents Bill.
The Council adjourned at 4.45 till 8 p.m. • An indication that Parliament would not adjourn till to-morrow afternoon at the earliest was given in the Legislative Council to-night. The Council met at 8 p.m., and the Leader, Mr M. Fagan, said that, as it would be some hours before the Broadcasting Bill was through the House, he would ask the Council to adjourn till 10 a.m. to-morrow.
