HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Hockey Association was held on Monday, and was attended by Messrs D, T. Woodfield (chairman), W. M’Quccn, W. I. Cawkwell, J. S. Ainger, M. Wiliams, A. Roberts, H. W. Tyrrell, R. M'Kelvey, C. H. Baird, B. Felton, A. C. Barnes, J. P. Northey, A. Hamm, E. G. Densem, H. Pickup, and the secreArrangementa have been made for the use of floodlights for training purposes at Tonga Park. Applications for the use of the lights by High School Ola Boys’ and Technical College Old Boys Clubs on Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively from 7 to 8 p.m. wore approved. A letter from Technical Old Boys Club registering Henderson as a Second Grade player was referred to the Permits Committee. Permission was granted to the Albany Club to play the Oamaru Men's Hockey Club for the Gardener Memorial Cup on Tuesday, Juno 23, in Dunedin. It was resolved to send a letter of thanks to Mr W. 11. Down, the secretary of the New Zealand Hockey Association, in appreciation of his past efforts for the advancement of hockey. An invitation to nil players and others interested to attend a meeting of the Umpires’ Association in the \ .M.C.A. next Wednesday at 7.15 p.m., was received, and it was decided to notify club secretaries accordingly. It was resolved that the Second Grade match, University D v. Albany B, set down to have been playedlast Saturday, should be played later if necessary. Present were:—Miss Hill (iu the chair), Mis Sonntag, Misses Lee, Adams, Mackie, Wilson and Warburton. Miss Hill was appointed to act as supervisor of the umpires’ examination to be held on June 30. . Notice was received from the Training College Club that it was entering a team in the C Grade for the second round, thus eliminating the bye in that grade. It was decided to ask club secretaries and captains of all teams to be present at a meeting next Tuesday evening with regard to making arrangements for the Fijian team’s visit. It was decided to make application to the Minister of Internal Affairs for permission to run an art union, the proceeds to go towards the Tournament Fund and to help to cover the expenses of the Fijian tour.
