FEWER UNEMPLOYED
THE FIGURES FOR BRITAIN MARKED DECREASE IN MAY (British Olllcial Wireless.) RUGBY, June S. (Received June 9, at 5.5 p.m.) A further marked decrease in the numbers of unemployed is shown in the return for May issued by the Labour Ministry, which estimates that at May 25 the number of insured persons aged from 10 to 04 in employment in Britain, exclusive of agricultural workers, was approximately 10.892,000. This is 119,000 more than at April 27 and 472,000 more than at May 20. 1995. Agricultural workers became insured at the beginning of May, but the numbers of such workers in employment are not yet available. At May 25 the numbers of registered unemployed were 1,705,042, comprising 1,997,755 wholly unemployed, 225,285 temporarily laid off, and 82,002 normally in casual employment. The total was 120.188 fewer than a month before and 399,710 fewer than a year ago.

The number of unemployed throughout Germany deceased by 272,000 during May to 1,491.000.
