VICE-RKOAL, His Excellency the Governor-General (Viscount Galway) left Auckland by the Limited last night for Wellington to attend to official business. He will return to Auckland on Saturday. Ministerial. The Postman!ei-general (Mr E. Jones) has intimated his intention of being present on Thursday, June 18, at the Little Theatre Society’s production entitled “ Bunty Pulls the Strings.” Mr James Hogg left by the express yesterday morning on his way to Wellington. Mr Charles A. Wilson loft yesterday by the express for the north, on his way to Auckland. Mr Charles Baker was a passenger by the express yesterday, on route to Auckland. Messrs E. H. Murney and C. R. Sheat travelled to Oamaru yesterday to attend a meeting of the Otago Adjustment Commission.
A Press Association cable message from London states that Princess Arthur of Connaught has undergone a severe abdominal operation. The result is satisfactory. Colonel nnd Mrs Orsborn, of the Salvation Army, who have been paying a farewell visit to Dunedin, loft for the north yesterday morning. Colonel Orsborn, who is chief secretary for New Zealand, has been appointed territorial commander for Scotland and Ireland, and will leave to take up his new position about the middle of July. The Union Airways airliner Kotuku left the Taiori airport at 8.15 a.m. yesterday for Christchurch, Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Mr L, K. Neil for Christchurch. The Korimako arrived at 32.50 p.m. with Lady le Fleming, Mrs M. C. MacLeod, and Mr and Mrs Robert Linklatcr from Palmerston North, Mr A. 0. Wilkinson ( from Christchurch, and Mr Noel M'Grcgor from Blenheim. , „ Mr W. L. Booth, accountant of the National Bank pf New Zealand in Dunedin, has received notice of his appointment as manager of the Whangarei branch of the bank. He succeeds Mr M. B. Peat, who has been transferred to the Gisborne management, which was rendered vacant by the sudden death of Mr A. B. West, former manager of that branch. Mr J. L. Barriball, late accountant of the Christchurch branch, has just proceeded to his new post ns manager at Pnkekoho. Mr H. W. Whyte, secretary to the general manager (Sir James Grose), ie leaving Wellington for London by the Remuera to-day. He will be attached to the head office of the National Bank of New Zealand in London.
