(Received May 24. tit 8 p.m.) One Nazi was killed and several injured in a raid on Prince Starhemberg's eastle at Wiichsber„. The police were forewarned of the plan and arrived simultaneously with the Nazis. A fieree fight ensued. The motive apparently was to capture a quantity of Hoimwehr arms stored in the castle. Prince Starhembcrg was not present at the time. STATE OF TENSION POLICE ON ALARM DUTY 'VIENNA, May 23. (Received May 24, at 9 p.m.) The attack on Prince Starhemberg's castle has aroused fears of renewed Nazi violence. The police in Upper Austria have been ordered to remain permanently on alarm duty to prevent trouble arising from a clash or from Heimwchr demonstrations. Armed guards have been stationed at Trince Starhemberg's and 1other castles in Upper Austria. _ So far 28 arrests have been made in connection with the affray at Wachsbcrg, in which the police declare that 40 or 50 Nazis attacked, firing revolvers. The police replied with rifles. The fighting raged for 15 minutes in the darkness. _, One of the wounded has died, lne ringlender and others escaped to Czechoslovakia. It is believed that several of the raiders were former members of rrinee Starhemberg's bodyguard, one ot whom revealed the plot.
