WHERE GOLD WAS FIRST DISCOVERED AT FLAT Mr George Munro, a pioneer of 1857, pointing to the spot where “Black Peter” first discovered gold at Evans Flat. Mr Munro’s wife, a few days after Gabriel Read had told them of his find, discovered that the gully beside their home, now Munro’s Gully, was also a rich field.
