ST. PATRICK’S DAY

ANNUAL CONCERT A, first-class programme has been arranged for the annual concert to-night commemorating St. Patrick’s Day. Every taste appears to bo catered for. and only artists of considerable talent have been engaged. The concert will last just over two hours and a-quarter, which will permit patrons from outlying districts to catch their trains. One of the main features of‘the concert will be the appearance of the St. Philomena’s champion choir, which, with the ever-popular St. Joseph’s Boys’ Band, will undertake the major presentation of the evening. Heading the list of soloists are Mesdames L. J. Cronin, Stuart Falconer (better known to Dunedin’s music lovers ns Miss Bertha Rawlinson), Messrs Alfred Walrnsloy and two new artists in Allan Cocks* and Harry Ford, who should prove popular. Miss Henaghan is well and favourably known to Dunedin audiences, and her choice of a selection from the “ Borce Log ” should meet with every approval. A young violinist, Miss Jean Hoggins, will make her debut on the concert platform, but it is anticipated that her first public appearance will win her much praise. Master E. Redmond, a youthful cornetist, should prove popular, and Masters Keith Miller and Jack Cameron, who provided one of the brightest items of last year’s programme, will reappear. The limited seating capacity of the Concert Chamber resulted in many being turned away from the last few concerts, and intending patrons should come early or reserve their seats at the D.I.C.
