OBITUARY
MR THOMAS BRUNTON The death is announced of Mr Thomas Brunton, who was well known in South Canterbury and North Otago. Mr Brunton settled in Temuka some years ago, where he conducted a butchery business. He was a familiar figure at the district stock sales and was a highly respected man of A few years ago ho left Temuka to reside at Fairlie, where he was interested in a butchery business in that township. 111-health overtaking him, he left to reside with his relatives at Timaru, where his death took place. Haldane.
Professor John Scott Haldane was honorary professor and director of the Mining Research Laboratory, Birmingham University, from 1928. He was born in 1800, and was engaged in scientific investigation and teaching since 1885. He was president of the Institute of Mining Engineers from 1924 to 1928, and served on several royal commissions. He was the author of several text books ami scientific papers.
