OBITUARY
MR W. E. THOMPSON (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, March 14. The death has occurred of Mr Walter Ernest Thompson, president of the New Brighton Trotting Club; aged (58 years. MR GUS BLUETT (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—-Copyright) SYDNEY, March 15. (Received March 15, at 7.5 p.m.) Australian theatregoers learned with grief of the untimely death of the popular comedian Gus Bluett, in his early thirties. He became ill yesterday with a hamiorrliage and was hurried to the Sydney Hospital, where his death occurred in the evening. Mr Bluett had just completed an engagement in Melbourne with the J. C. Williamson Company, “ Yes Madame.” He resided with his mother and sister at Double Bay. Ho began his stage career with his father, Fred Bluett, and received his first engagement with the J. C. Williamson Company in 1918, in “Hello Everybody.”
Mr E. J. Tail, managing director of Williamsons, paying a tribute to Mr Bluett, said: “ I have been touring the world since 1916 and have never seen his equal. His death is an irreparable loss.”
