THE SHARE MARKET PUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE The market for Bank of New Zealands suffered another drop on the Dunedin Stock Exchange on Saturday morning, the closing buying olfer being £2 3s Od, while .sellers asked £2 ss. Sellers of contributing New Zealand Refrigoratings were prepared to accept 9a 10d, but buyers were not interested. Mortgage Corporations were inquired for at 4s 4d, but sellers would not take less than 4s 7d. Broken Hill Proprietaries were on olfer at the easier price of £2 19s, but this figure did not attract buyers. New Zealand Breweries met with a slightly easier inquiry at £2 12s (id, sellers requiring Is above that figure. A late sale at £2 13s was reported. Ordinary Electrolytic Zincs were also in easier demand at £1 17s, cum dividend, no sellers coming forward. NEW ZEALAND WOOLPACKS DEFINITE SHARE OF MARKETS THE GOVERNMENT SYMPATHETIC (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 14. For some time past the Government has had under consideration the question of encouraging the use of woolpacks made in New Zealand. The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. G. Sullivan) stated to-day that if it were possible without creating complications the Government would endeavour to ensure that New Zealand woolpacks had a definite share of the New Zealand market. A total of 7733 was sold, a moderate selection of which was from New Zealand. Crossbreds predominated. There was a good clearance, with active home trade and Continental competition. Prices were very firm for all descriptions, being 5 per cent, dearer than at the close of the last series. New Zealand greasy crossbred, “Hautatara,” top price lid, average 11 Jd. Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated March 13: Sales continue with a good tone, Continental buyers more active. Compared with last London sales, dosing rates: — Merino, best descriptions, advanced 5 per cent, to 7>l per cent.; crossbred, line, par to 5 per cent, advance; crossbred, medium, market irregular; crossbred, coarse, advanced 5 per cent. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office under date March 13:— Wool.—Compared with the opening sales crossbreds are somewhat irregular, but coarser grades are rather firmer. Compared with the closing rates of last scries, merino are about 2d dearer.
