Mr W. Brinsley was a passenger by yesterday’s express for the north, en route to Wellington. Dr A. Kidd, medical superintendent of the Waipiata Sanatorium, is spending a short holiday in the North Island betore proceeding to England and the Continent. Mr A. Powell, Australian and New Zealand manager for the Northern Assurance Company, left Dunedin yesterday morning for the north on his return to Melbourne. Mr J. Wolstenholme, of Sydney, who has been visiting Dunedin, was a passenger by yesterday’s express for the north, en route to Wellington. Mr M. Connelly left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington to attend the jubilee celebrations of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. Mr S. S. Millington, controller of stores for the Railways Department, was a passenger by yesterday’s express for the north, on his return to Wellington. Mr G. R. Ritchie and Mr C. W. Rattray, directors of the Union Steam Ship Company, Ltd., were passengers by yesterday’s express for the north, en route to Wellington. Bishop Fitchett, accompanied by Mrfi Fitchett. left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington. Mrs Fitchett will leavs Wellington by the Rangitiki on Friday on a visit to England. Mr G. Harvey, of Mornington. left Dunedin yesterday morning for Wellington, where he will embark on the Rangitikeii for London. He expects to return in about five months. i . Mr J. I. Horne, of Invercargill, who has been studying at the Otago University, was a oa&senger by yesterday’s express for the north. He will leave Wellington by the Rangitiki on Friday for London, where he will continue his studies. Mr N. R. M'lsaac arrived from Invercargill yesterday morning to take up his duties as chief postmaster in Dunedin. Prior to his departure from the south he was made a presentation by the officers and staff of the Invercargill postal district. The Rev. A. Mead, of the Moray Place Congregational Church, left Dunedin yesterday morning for the north. He _ will leave Wellington by the Rangitiki on Friday for England on leave. As a former chairman of the New Zealand Congregational Union, Mr Mead will represent that body at the meetings of the Congregational Union of England and Wales, to be held in London. Following the retirement of Mr W. J. Campbell, probation and maintenance officer in Auckland, Mr J. Anderson has been appointed to the position. Mr Anderson has been assistant probation officer in Auckland for the past 15 years (says a Press Association telegram from Wellington) and also assistant schoolmaster and officer in charge of stores at the Auckland prison. _ The Union air liner Korimako, which was unable to leave Christchurch on Monday for Dunedin owing to the bad weather, left Wigram at 9.30 a.m. yesterday and arrived at Taieri at 11.10 a.m. The Korimako left again at 11.35 a.m. for Christchurch, Blenheim and Palmerston North, with Dr Walton Bremner as a passenger for Christchurch. The Karoro arrived at Christchurch at 11.5 a.m., yesterday, but, owing to the softness of the ground after the heavy rain, the machine became bogged. The Karoro eventually left Wigram at 12.10 p.m.. about 55 minutes late, and arrived at Taieri at 1.30 p.m., 40 minutes late. She had the following passengers for Dunedin Messrs R. J. Gilmour and Pnscoe, from Palmerston North; and Messrs J. Beale, R. Beale and J. S. Skinner, from Christchurch.
