OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS

MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Early Settlers’ Association was held yesterday afternoon. There wore present Messrs D. J. Calder (president, in the chair), E. Webster, F. H. Campbell, A. F. Cheyne, W. H. Ferens, J. Hope, F. W. Knight, W. Nicolson, C. C. Robertson, and W. J. Strong. The president reported that all arrangements in connection with the anniversary to be held on March 23 were progressing satisfactorily. Mr John Leech would provide the afternoon and evening programmes, Mr A. S. Malcolm would speak in the afternoon, and the Rev. Hugh Graham in the evening. The programmes would be broadcast by 4YO. An invitation was received from First Church inviting as many early settlers and descendants as possible to attend the morning and evening services on March 22. A letter was received from the Trustees, Executors and Agency Company, Dunedin, notifying that the association would receive a donation of £SO from the estate of the late Sir James Mills. The immediate past-president, Mr F. W. Knight, presented the president, Mr Calder, with the president’s gold badge.
