On Tuesday, February 25, a picturesque garden wedding waa solemnised at the residence of Mr and Mrs E. C. Ewing, Glendhu Peninsula, Lake Wanaka, when Mary, their eldest daughter, was married to Reginald, youngest son of Dr and Mrs W. R. Stowe, of Palmerston North. The bride, wearing an ivory satin gown threaded with gold, closely moulded to the figure, the only fullness being the pleated sleeves, ana a tulle veil edged with lace, and carrying a sheaf of cream gladioli, made a charming picture as she was escorted by her father on to the lawn, where the ceremony was performed by tbe Rev. S. A. I. Hurd, of Clyde. The two bridesmaids—Misses Leta Ewing and Joan Scaife—were gowned alike in frocks of cream taffeta, with gold girdles and shoes, and cream halo hats stitched with gold, and carried sheaves of gold gladioli. The bridegroom was attended by Mr John Bell, of Dunedin, as best man, and Mr Donald Sinclair, of Clyde, as groomsman. The nuptial music was supplied by Miss Elva Russell, cousin of the bride. The bride’s mother, who wore a beige lace gown and picture hat, and carried a bouquet of padre roses, received the guests, who, after tbe ceremony, adjourned to the marquee, where afternoon tea was partaken of. Later in the afternoon the newly-married pair left on their wedding tour, the bride wearing a powder blue ensemble with a navy taffeta stitched collar and belt, and navy accessories. Bright sunshine added charm to a wedding solemnised in the Palmerston Presbyterian Church on Thursday, February 27. the contracting parties being Phyllis M'Kay, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Murray, of Dunback, and Thomas Arthur, only son of Mrs and the late Mr D. Peddle, of Macrae’s Flat. The Bev. R. Lcishriian was the officiating minister, and Miss Stent presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, made a charming picture in a gown of cream Jatin and luce. _ Her embroidered veil, held in place with orange blossom, fell to form a train which was held by the bride’s tiny nephew, Norman Murray, as page boy dressed in cream satin. The bride carried a bouquet of cream Madonna lilies and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her two cousins. Misses Vera Murray and Alice Venn, as bridesmaids, the former frocked in pink floral and gold-sprigged georgette and the latter in green, large picture hats and shoes and mittens to tone. Their bouquets of roses and carnations completed their toilet. The bridegroom was attended by Mr J. Ryan as best man and Mr J. Elsom as groomsman. During the signing of the register Mr E. J. Kelly, of Dunback, rendered the solo “My Task.” The breakfast was held in Clark Hall, where some 90 guests were received by the bride’s parents. Mrs Murray was attired in a navy ensemble, with touches of red and white, and a navy straw hat, and carried a posy of red asters. Mrs Peddle, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a black silk frock and hat to tone, and Mrs Robertson, the groom’s sister, w-ore delphinium blue marocain and blue hat.
