THE WOOL SEASON

THIRD DUNEDIN SALE GOOD AUCTION ANTICIPATED OFFERING OF 28,317 BALES Woolgrowcrs in Otago have good rcas9n to, approach the third auction of the 1935-36 season in Dunedin with confidence. Indications point to good selling conditions, and close observers of the market anticipate that to-morrow’s sale will be the best of tlio season. ,A total of 28,317 bales will-be offered, and the arrivals of buyers to (late suggests that a full bench .will contest the lots as they are put up. The sale will be commenced at 9 a.m. One of the most pleasing features of the market at the present time is the firmer demand for crossbreds, in respect of which buyers are operating on more elastic limits. Fine wools are still in lively demand and rates remain encouragingly firm. Growers who have been withholding wooLdjor higher rates would be well advised to meet the market tomorrow and sell,''

It is possible \ that the net returns from this auction will be considerably lower than those of the two preceding sales, but that will ib-no way alter the fact that the. third Dunedin sale will be the best of the season. The offering to-morrow comprises, ft’mpeh.higher proportion of crossbred :wool than was the case in February, ap'd December. This will tend to bring - down the average price, but the returns 'secured by growers of these descriptions of wool will be materially increased. V The wool displayed for this sale is generally not in as good order as previous offerings. A great deal of it is very heavy in condition, being largely later shorn country clips. The order of sale, with the quantities comprised in the catalogues of the seven selling firms, is as follows: — J , Bales. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd. .. 5,204 New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. .. 2,1152 Stronach, Morris, and CO., Ltd. 2,3Q2 Donald Reid and Co., Ltd. .. 3,720 National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd. 4,994 Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd. 7,710 Otago Farmers’ Co-operative As-' sociation, Ltd. .. ... .. V. 2,235 Total .. . .. .. 28,317
