GAMING HOUSES
CHINESE AND EUROPEANS FINED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 7. As the result of two raids made simultaneously on houses in Haining street yesterday afternoon two Chinese and five Europeans appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning on charges under the Gaming Act. Ah Low was fined £lO, in default one month's imprisonment, for keeping premises as a common gaming house, and Sue Tam was fined £2O, in default two months' imprisonment, on a similar charge. John Perkins, an agent, aged 28, and Edgar Edward Shaw, a labourer, aged 52, were each fined £2 for being on Low's premises. Walter Stanley Isaac, a driver, aged 26, William Edward Taylor, a seaman, aged 35, and Herbert James Anderson, a carpenter, aged 70, were each fined £2 for being on Tain's premises.
