OMAKAU ANGLICAN CHURCH

ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW The second annual flower show under the auspices of St. Mary's Church was held on February 20 in the Oinakan Hall. The show, which was a decided success, was opened in the afternoon by the president, the Rev. E. A. G. Hurd, who thanked all those who had helped in any way. The number of entries was slightly larger than last year, and the exhibits came from all parts of the district. Special mention must be made of the large number of exhibits in the flower classes from Mr John Black, of Middlciiinrch. Messrs R. Dawson and Co.. of Alexandra, also had a number of entries in (he fruit section. Mr G. Millar, of Clyde. staged an attractive display of gladioli. The thanks of the society are due to Mr Dewar. of Cromwell, who acted as auctioneer, and to the following judges: Flowers and decorative. Mr G. Millar. Clyde: fruit and vegetables, Mr W. R. L. Williams, of Alexandra: children's work, the Rev. S. A. G. Hurd; cookery, etc., Mrs Davidson: industrial and children's fancy work, Mr s J. Truesdalc. jun. The following arc the names of the principal prize-winners: Scoular Cup. for most points in the show-—Mr John Black, of Middlemareh. who also won the Butcher Cup for most points in the flower classes; most points in vegetables. Mr R. Black, of Omakau: J. R. Steven's Cup for children (final possession), Margaret Drake, of Ophir; decorative work. Miss Margaret Kinney, of Chatlo Creek: industrial. ATrs IT. Ingram, of Lauder; cookery, etc., Mis* C. Kinney, of Chatto Creek.
