BALCLUTHA Evening Sports The recently-formed Balclutha Cycling and Athletic Club held a meeting on Thursday evening on the trotting track on the lower reserve. Delightful weather prevailed, and it was found possible to get off three events before darkness fell. Mr C. 15. O'Hara officiated as starter, Mr E. Hughes handicapper, Mr J. M'Noe judge, and Mr Lea Miller secretary. Results: — One-mile Cycle Race.—C. , Porter (80yds) 1, W. Williamson (110yds) 2, W. Dawson (110yds) 3. Also started: J. Goodman (90yds), A. Dawson (130yds). A good race between the placed men. Time, 2min 20 l-sseo.
Youths' Cycle Handicap (one mile).-i----lan M'Noe (scr) 1, W. Cooper (scr) 2, A. Scott (20yds) 3. Also started: I. Gold (20yds), a Stark (25yds), S. Stevenson (35yds), G. Duff (35yds), A. Hughes (50yds), R. Hastings (55yds). Won easily. Time, 2min 38 4-ssec. Two-mile Handicap (open).—W. Dawson (220yds) 1, lan M'Noe 280yds)) 2, C. Porter (160yds) 3. Also started: J. Goodman (180yds), W. Williamson (220yds), M'Leod (280yds), A. Scott (320yds), J. Duke (320yds). Duke led for two laps,, when he lost a pedal and dropped out. Dawson and M'Noe fought out a good finish. Time, 4min 42sec.
