Sir James Hutchison returned from the north by yesterday's through express. Mr A. Sinclair, en route for Wellington, was a passenger yesterday by the through express for the north. Dr A. Kidd, of Waipiata Sanatorium, will leave for the north by the second express to-day. After a short stay in the North Island Dr Kidd will proceed to England and the Cor.tinent. A Press Association cable message from Sydney states that passengers aboard the Mariposa, which sailed on Wednesday, indude Mr Lincoln Ellsworth and Miss Helen Twelvetrees.
Mr W. Morley, managing director of A. and T. Burt, Ltd., was a passenger ftom the north by the mail train yesterday and will remain in Dunedin for some months.
The Union airliner Karoro left Taieri airport at 11.30 a.m. yesterday with Mr R. A. Brooks as a passenger for Christ; church. The Kotuku arrived at Taieri at 12.50 p.m. with the following passensers:—Mrs J. F. Mitchell and Mr B. G. White (from Palmerston North), Mr R. P Stewart (from Blenheim), and Mr R. B. Bannerman (from Christchurch). A Press Association cable message from Sydney states that it is announced that Lieutenant-colonel James Imrie, of New Zealand, has been appointed territorial young people's secretar}-, with oversight of all young people's work of the Salvation Army in New South Wales and Queensland. Superintendent J. J. Salmon left yesterday for Hastings to attend the. annual meeting of the United Fire Brigades' Association. Superintendent C. Hislop (Kailangata), Past-president A. Martin (Gore), and Past-president J. R. Wilson (Milton) also travelled north for the purpose of attending the meeting.
