M'GLASHAN COLLEGE

ANNUAL MEETING OF BOARD The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of John M'Glashan College was held in the School Library yesterday afternoon. There were present: Mr T. C. Ross (in the chair), Messrs James Begg, A. C. Cameron, H. L. Cook, Harris, T. Somerville, Professors T. D. Adams, J. R. Elder, the Revs. J. J. Cairney. A. H. Mitchell and Dr E. N. Merrington. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. . Mr T. Somerville was elected chairman for the coming year and Mr James Begg vice-chairman. The following members were "re-elected: —Messrs' H. L. Cook, A. C. Cameron, D. Tannock, the Rev. J. J. Cairnev and Dr E. N. Merrington. Works, Finance and Education Committees were appointed. Mr Russell's resignation from the board was received with regret and appreciation expressed of his services to the board during the years he had been associated with it. ~ Mr Leslie was re-elected auditor and Miss Glendiniiing secretary and treasurer for the coining year. ' Leave of absence was granted to Mr 1. C. Ross for 12 mouths, and to Mr James Begg for eight months. The convener of the Education Committee reported that Mr J. Kempthorne had been appointed to the staff for the 12 months during which Mr N. S. Woods would be absent. He had taken up his teaching duties at the school. The headmaster reported that 11 boys had passed their university entrance examination and two had gained entrance university bursaries.
