ENORMOUS SCOPE OF WORK MEETING OF NELSON BRANCH (Peb United Press Association) NELSON t February 17. The enormous scope of work and the big expenditure needed to assist crippled children was the main subject of discussion at a meeting of the Nelson branch of the Crippled Children's Society. One estimate of the cost of assisting Nelson cases was .fixed at £4OOO to £SOOO. A member remarked that a preliminary examination by the Medical Committee had revealed a state of affairs of which they had had little idea before. The establishment of a central orthopsedic hospital vraß advocated. It was urged that the work should be dealt with as a national movement and that tho Government should assist. A decision was made to send two children to Wellington for treatment and that an endeavour be made to hava a meeting of the Central Committee called to discuss the policy in view of the position disclosed.
