UNIVERSITY SENATE

OPENING OF SESSIONS APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND. January 14. The annual sessions of the New Zealand University Senate, which are held in each of the four centres in rotation, will be opened in the Auckland University College Hall on Thursday morning, and will possibly continue until the following Tuesday. The chancellor (Mr J. A. Hanan, M.L.C.) will preside. The vice-chancellor (Professor T. A. Hunter, of Victoria College) and the registrar (Mr E. T. Norris) will arrive to-morrow morning to make the preliminary arrangements. The senate will be called upon to elect a chancellor, a pro-chancellor, and a treasurer. It will also have to appoint a successor to Mr Norris, rvho is retiring after 20 years’ service. Six of the applicants for the position of registrar have been invited to meet the senate on Friday.
