CHARGES OF THEFT

THE ACCUSED REMANDED (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, January 10. Several charges of the theft of moneys were brought against Henry Alan Moray Smith, a company agent, aged 28 years, in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The amount involved was said to be in the vicinity of £2OO, and it was alleged to have been stolen from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., while Smith was acting as the company’s agent at Rakaia. The sums mentioned, with the exception of one, wore the property of the company, and were alleged to have been stolen during 1935. The accused was remanded in custody until to-morrow.
