SHIPPING STRIKE
EXTENSION PROBABLE STATEMENT BY OFFICIAL (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, December 15. (Received Dec. 15, at 10 p.m.) Mr J, Keenan, leader of the seamen’s Strike Committee, forecasts (hat unless the licensing system, as applied to the seamen, is withdrawn by the Federal U vernment 1500 more men, comprising the crews of all interstate vessels in all States, trawlers, and colliers will be involved in the dispute after a meeting of the committee to-morrow. Mr Keenan said he had discussed the position with the leaders of the Miners’ Federation, who we're firmly resolved to call out all the miuers on the northern fields if the seamen needed their assistance. from Brisbane and Melbourne indicate that difficulty is being experienced in filling volunteer crews.
