DUNEDIN CHORAL SOCIETY
The “Messiah” will be presented in the Town Hall next Saturday evening by the Dunedin Choral Society, with Madame Winnie Fraser, Miss Mary Pratt, Mr Ernest Drake, and Mr Wilfred Kershaw as soloists. The accompaniments will be played by Mrs H. C. Campbell at the piano and Dr Galway at the organ. The choir of the society is said to be a greatly improved body, and it is expected that the many wellknown choruses in this oratorio will be given with impressive effect. Madame Winnie Fraser is noted throughout New Zealand for her interpretation of the “Messiah” solos, and Miss Pratt is always at her best in oratorio, and especially in the solo “He Was Despised.” Mr Drake has made a great study of his part, and in particular bis “ Passion Music ” is known ns being unusually sympathetic. Mr Kershaw’s vigour should find ample scope in “ Why do the Nations’’-and the many other fine bass solos.
