RAILWAY WORKING

NET REVENUE MAINTAINED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 30. The railway working for the fourweekly period ended November 9 shows the gross revenue at £488,121, an increase of £20,706 compared with the corresponding period of last year. The expenditure was £494,685, an increase of £79,251 over last year. The expenditure figures, however, include £63,000 on account of the 7i per cent, increase in salaries and wages paid as from August 1, and accounted ■ for in November period. For the eight four-weekly periods of the current financial year to November 9, the total revenue amounted to £3,893,653, compared wdth £3,719,253 for the same period last year, an increase of £174,400. The working expenses for the current year to date have amounted to £3,539,682, against £3,370,837 last year, an increase of £168,845. After meeting the 5 per cent, increase and the arrears as from August 1 on account of the 7i per cent, increase in salaries and wages, the net revenue to date shows the very satisfactory increase of £5555.
