JAPANESE BUDGET
DEMAND FOR RETRENCHMENT A COMPROMISE REACHED TOKIO, November 30. (Received Dee. 1, at 9 p.m.) A meeting lasting throughout the night resulted in the Ministers for the Army and Navy compromising with Mr Takahashi, who is demanding Budget retrenchment. Nevertheless, the navy obtained £40,000,000 and the army £36,000,000, Japan’s largest peace-time naval and military expenditure. The total Budget expenditure is £158,700,000.
