Because they refused to have their hair cut, three u. c. o.'s and 20 privates of a cavalry regiment in Oloinice (Bohemia) were sentenced by court martial to imprisonment on charges of “ rebellion.” Regimental orders laid down that all hair must be cut down to one-tentli of an inch. The 29 men refused, pointing out that they would be laughed at in town when walking in civilian clothes. In spite of disciplinary punishment, they would not yield. So the colonel of the regiment had them up before a court martial. The privates have been sentenced to between two and three months’ penal servitude. The n. c. o.’s have received sentences ranging from three to four months’ imprisonment and been reduced to the ranks.
