“THE MESSIAH”
Next Saturday evening, in the Town Hall, the Dunedin Choral Society will present Handel’s ’greatest oratorio, “ The Messiah.” With its choir stronger, better balanced, and singing better than it has done for years, this should prove a memorable occasion, particularly as four soloists, Madame Winnie Fraser, Miss Mary Pratt, Mr Ernest Drake, and Mr Wilfred Kershaw, have been engaged. Instead of by,an orchestra the accompaniments will be provided by Mrs H. O. Campbell at the piano and Dr Galway on the Towm Hall organ. Mr Alfred Walmsley will conduct, and an abridged version of the oratorio will be given. This includes all the favourite choruses, which should sound impressive when sung by this large choir.
