CHURCH SERVICES

The Rev. D. C. Herron will conduct Communion services in Knox Church both morning and evening. The subject for the evening will be “ The Man of the Secret Life.” Retiring' Communion thaffkofferings will be received for the Home Missionaries’ Christmas Gift Fund.

At First Church to-morrow the Rev. W. Allen Stevely’s subjects will be, in the morning, “ Like a Tree,” and in the evening “A New Song.” The music at the evening service will Include the duet “ My Song Shall Be Always Thy Mercy ” (Mendelssohn), and the. anthem “The Lord is my Shepherd” (Galway). Dr Galway will be at the organ. “The Veil Lifted” is the subject chosen by Mrs Brooks for her address at the Greater World Spiritual Mission. Spiritual clairvoyance will follow the service, and there will also be an aftercircle.

The Rev. J. Keith Ewen will preach at the Hanover Street Baptist Church in the morning on “ What Christ is to His People,” and in the evening the Rev. E. S. Tuckwell will preach his farewell sermon before leaving for Australia next week.

The Rev C. H. Olds will conduct both services at Trinity Methodist Church, Stuart street, to-morrow. The morning theme will be “ The Majesty of God.” The monthly Communion service will follow. In the evening special reference will be made to the political situation, the subject being “Intercessors: The Primary Need.” Miss Jane Holmes will sing the Christmas carol “ 0 Little Town of Bethlehem.” The anthem will be “ God That Madest Earth and Heaven.” Services at the United Congregational Church will be conducted by the Rev. C. 6. Hedley Bycroft. At 11 a.m. his subject will be “The Secret of the Victorious Life,” and in the evening he will speak on “The Resurrections —How Many Are There?” -Miss Beth Ritchie and Miss Mavis Johnston will be the soloists.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, will conduct services in Allbell Chambers, Stuart street. The subject of the morning and evening services will be “Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced.” At the Theosophical Society the ninth evening of the “Straight Theosophy” , campaign will take the form of a ceremony named “ The Ceremony of Light.” Divine worship at Moray Place Congregational Church will he conducted by the minister, whose subject in the morning will be “Going Mornward,” the anthem being “Ave Verum ” (Gounod). The evening subject will be “A League of St. Andrew,” and the duet “When I Survey” will be sung by Miss Alice Guy and Miss L. Thorn. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be observed in the evening. The services at the Methodist Central Mission on Sunday will be conducted by the Rev. Duncan in the morning. In the evening the Rev. Leslie B. Neale will conduct the service and will speak to the young people. The soloist at this service will be Mr Ottrey. The young people’s anniversary service at Salation Army, Dowling street, to-morrow will be conducted by Envoy Jackson. The children will be heard in bright singing during the day.
