WAIMATE Amateur Athletics, , The Waimate Amateur Athletic Club opened its season with an unofficial handicap meeting at Victoria Park. There was a fair attendance of spectators. The shop was situated about 30 yards from Mr Craig's residence, and the glare of the flames awakened Mr Craig's Bon, but the blaze had already caught too strong' a hold' for anything to "be done.There were few other witnesses of, the fire, and its cause has. not' been ascertained.
