BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Y.M.C.A. was held on November 25, there being present:— Messrs J. L. Salmond (chairman), J. B. Waters C. J. Darracott, J. M'Ara. A. Laurenson, M. C. Henderson, P. Findlay, T. Hilliker, D. K. Macdonald, George Saimond, and H. P. West. The general secretary (Mr J. H. Don Miller) reported that the association had experienced a successful year, an increase of membership being shown in all departments. Excellent attendances had been recorded at all functions' and addresses. The Optimists' Club had now concluded its luncheon addresses for 1935, the final speakers being Dr De Monchaux, Dr Gai•way. and Messrs W. R. Sinclair and W. T. Wilson. People were using the swimming pool in greatly increasing numbers and it was proving a great attraction to many men and boys. A successful gatherins of all departments was seen at the annual Y.M.CA.-Y.W.C.A. service, conducted by Dean Cruickshank in the cathedral. The boys' work director (Mr G. R. Pitkethley) reported a very successful father, mother and son banquet, 160 being present, the prizes being presented l>y Mr J. G. Dykes (president of the Rotary Club). Very encouraging reports of hely from business firms in making gifts or provisions were to hand. The Otago Patriotic and Welfare League and Rotary Club were making it possible to give to worthy boys a period in camp free. Applications for camp were beginning to come in rapidly. The Rotary Club would visit the camp on January 15. The physical director (Mr C. W. Postgate) reported that a successful social attended by 200 people marked the close of the season. In the department an increase had been shown in enrolment hi 1935, and gratification was expressed at results Generally the year had been one of the Y.M.C.A.'s most successful, and the board of directors expressed their satisfaction at the work being done for the youth of the community.
