EXTENSIONS IN LONDON TUBE RAILWAY IMPROVEMENTS (British Official Wireless> RUGBY, November 23. (Received Nov. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) Work on the eastward extension for a further 10 miles of the Central London tube railway, which ; s part of the £35,000,000 programme of improvements to be undertaken by the London Passenger Transport Board, will be begiu as soon as Royal Assent has been given to the board's new Bill in the coming parliamentary session. Other important features of the scheme include the introduction of more than 100 miles of trolley bus routes, extensions of oilier underground railways, the building of n any stations and the modernisation of existing ones. When completed the London transport facilities will be vastly improved and speeded up and the outer suburbs will be adequately linked up with the central areas.
