ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FATALLY INJURED BY CAR (Per United Press Association) HAMILTON, November 25. Following serious injuries received as the result of being struck by a motor car while walking along the Main South road, two miles south of Ngaruawahia, Mrs Eileen Courtenay, aged 34, a widow, succumbed in the Waikato Hospital. The deceased was walking to Ngaruawahia at the time, and was struck by a car driven by A. E. Plummer, of Auckland. She is survived by _ three young children, her husband having died three months ago. FALL INTO RIVER TWO BOYS DROWNED. (Per United Pkess Association) HOKITIKA, November 25. At an inquest this morning the coroner returned a verdict that Kenneth Gordon Finch, aged seven, and Alan Arthur Finch, aged nine, were accidentally drowned in Four Mile Creek on Saturday. The boys were cousins, their parents residing at Kaihinu. Apparently the boys were playing on the bank of the creek where sawdust is dumped, when they fell in. The tragedy was not known until six hours later. ' • COLLISION AT OPHIR A collision between a car and a motor cycle took place on Sunday afternoon in the vicinity of the Ophir bridge with the result that David Pitches, the rider of the. cycle, was removed to the Dunstau Hospital. His condition is reported to be dangerous. DROWNED IN CREEK (Special to Daily Times) TEMUKA, November 25. A young man. named Colin Edward Sherriffe was found dead on Saturday afternoon on his father's farm at Clandeboye. He was engaged creek cleaning, and it is surmised that he collapsed while working and became submerged, death resulting from asphyxiation. An inquest Was held yesterday morning before Mr C. R. OrrWalker, coroner. After hearing the evidence of the father and Dr Scannell, a verdict was returned that death 'was caused by drowning.
